Thank you to everyone who submitted a story or method to Interaction13! We appreciate your hard work in submitting your thoughtful and unique proposal and we can't wait to hear your story!! Good luck and stay tuned for announcements.
The programming is going to be fantastic!! The Interaction13 planning committee will be reviewing over 300 submissions in the next several weeks and will notify presenters via email when program decisions have been made. An update will be made to the website in October with more details highlighting the Interaction13 program.
We are looking to showcase a variety of sessions this year, as well as half-day and full-day pre-conference workshops. The 10 minute and 45 minute sessions that you may have experienced in previous Interaction conferences will be available for submission as usual. Additionally for the Interaction13 conference experience we are offering the Idea Market, Pecha Kucha, and Posters as new outlets to share your stories and ideas.
The Idea Market is a space for enabling the social exchange of ideas, crowdsourced from the design community. It’s an active environment where your “ideas” can be brought to a vibrant and diverse market. Participants will bring prototypes or visualizations of their product or service design idea and “setup shop” in the Idea Market. Conference presenters and attendees can engage in pitched ideas, prototypes, pilot or beta projects and receive constructive critique and input to help shape your projects outcome over 3 days of open and participatory design.
At Interaction13 we will be collaborating with the Toronto chapter of Pecha Kucha to introduce this new format into the conference experience. PechaKucha ‘s unique format of 20 images x 20 seconds for a presentation time of 6 minutes and 40 seconds allows you to share passion, thoughts, creative processes, research projects, and inspiration on a stage before the next presenter is up. The success of each presentation relies purely on the presenter’s personality and the strength of her or his ideas; the rich and concise format places young designers and students on the same footing as global stars. If you haven’t experienced one yourself, go find a location and join the conversation. www.pecha-kucha.org
In 2008 IxDA organized our first conference in Savannah, GA and planned for 250 participants. 450 delegates attended the conference leaving another 200 people on a waiting list. Interaction12 was IxDA’s first conference outside of North America welcoming almost 800 attendees.
